On Stage

This piece came from trying to capture a feeling more than a moment.

I was thinking about what it looks like when someone is fully inside what they’re doing. That point where everything else drops away and it’s just movement, sound, and energy. The figure isn’t meant to be exact or detailed. It’s more about the motion and the presence than the likeness.

The red light became the center of the piece. It almost acts like a pulse, something that surrounds the figure and pushes outward. I wanted it to feel intense but also a little blurred, like how memory works when you think back on a live performance. You don’t remember every detail, but you remember the feeling.

I kept the edges loose and let parts of the figure fall into shadow. There’s a lot that’s left undefined on purpose. That space allows the movement to carry more weight than the details.

This piece felt different from some of my other work. Less controlled, more instinctive. I still worked carefully, but I let the marks stay a little rough, a little unresolved.

For me, this one is about energy. About being in a moment where everything feels loud, focused, and alive all at once.
